We have 3 different bin sizes:

14 cubic yard binapprox. 14’L x 8′ W x 4′ D
20 cubic yard binapprox. 20’L x 8′ W x 4′ D
40 cubic yard binapprox. 20’L x 8′ W x 8′ D

Generally, the cost of the bin depends on the type of material you are putting into the bin and the location we are sending the bin to. Please contact us and we will be pleased to give you a quote on the spot by telephone or e-mail.

It is probably easier to first state what cannot go into the bin. Please, no tires, paint, oil, liquid waste or hazardous waste. Also, no cylinders (propane) or aerosol cans.

Otherwise, we accept renovation and construction material, roofing, wood, furniture and other household waste, appliances, yard waste and generally any solid non-hazardous waste. Clean concrete can be placed in a “concrete only” bin. Call for further clarification.

Yes. Durham Waste & Recycling is located at 113 Warren Road, Whitby is open to the public. Hours of operation are:


  • Effective June 15th – Monday to Friday: 6AM to 6PM
  • Effective immediately – Saturday 7AM to 2PM
  • Sunday: Closed

Durham Waste & Recycling is licensed by the MOE to accept solid nonhazardous waste, therefore, no hazardous waste, liquid waste, paint, oil, cylinders, aerosol cans, or tires are permitted.

You have use of the bin for up to 5 days. Please call when done to arrange for pick-up. Same day pick up can sometimes be arranged if required. Depending on how busy we are, there is usually some flexibility if you need the bin for more than 5 days.

Yes, recycling various materials from our waste stream is critical to our business from both an operational and personal commitment perspective. For over 25 years we have diverted the following materials from the landfill:
